THIELE introduced another innovative product to the mining industry by inventing the flat-type chain in 1985. A flat-type chain is a round-link steel chain in which every second link – the vertical link – has flattened legs so that the overall height of the chain can be reduced.
This means that a chain conveyor can be upgraded to the next chain size with matching standard sprocket. THIELE Flat Type links can be produced by either welding and pressing or by forging (DUALINK® chains).
Most of the world’s face conveyors now use Flat Type/DUALINK® Chains from the THD range.THIELE offers the following types of corrosion protection for THD Flat Type/DUALINK® Chains, depending on underground conditions and storage times:
a) Tectyl dipped (TEC) – for short storage times and good conditions
b) Hot-dip galvanised (TZN) – for longer storage Strength: 345 – 375 HB10 times and corrosive operating conditions
